2025 was a year of abundance for BCFA as we continued to grow our mission of building a resilient food system in Bucks County. From well-attended farmers markets and vibrant community events to small grants supporting local farmers and vital funding to fight food insecurity, our programs made a meaningful impact across the foodshed. Read on to see all that we accomplished this year.
Small Farm Grants
We LOVE farmers! They are the backbone of our local food economy and need everyone’s support! One way we support them is through our Small Farm Grant program, where we award grant small and large for anything from capital improvement projects to conference registration fees. This year we awarded four grants, totaling over $9,000 to:
- Morgan Creek Farms who used their funds to purchase retail glass-fronted refrigeration units
- Lower Neshanic Farm who purchased tools to support seed starting and a garden
- Anchor Run Farm who used their funds towards purchasing and replacing their solar inverterÂ
- NK Cattle Farm who used their funding for site preparation and inside footing of their new barn to shelter breeding herd and winter hay
Community EventsÂ
We had another year of exciting programming, offering 4 impactful community events:Â
- The sold-out Nature’s Best Hope: An Evening with Doug Tallamy in partnership with Delaware Valley University (see more here),Â
- Lawn-to-habitat native plant installation at Hollow House Farms,Â
- Wrightstown Farmers Market Farm to Chef Fundraiser, andÂ
- Kimchi workshop with Sunghee Kim and Plumsteadville Grange.Â
These wonderful community events were attended by over 600 people.
Farm Tours
One of our most popular events of the year are our summer farm tours, where farmers share their farms and knowledge with you! Plus we always boast a delicious potluck.
This year, over 200 attendees walked the fields at Morgan Creek Farms, Hundred Fruit Farm, and Roots to River Farm. You can see photos and recaps here.
Farmers Markets
We are the parent organization to Doylestown and Wrightstown Farmers Markets! This year, over 60,000 community shoppers visited our markets to shop from more than 70 farms and local food-producing business vendors! Learn more about our markets here!
Fighting Food Insecurity
In this uncertain year, we stepped up our programs to help out neighbors in need. Our Feed A Family, Support a Family Farm program had another successful year! At the end of the Doylestown and Wrightstown Farmers Markets, we purchased produce from the farmers and our volunteers delivered them to local food pantries and other organizations. We were able to extend this program from June to December in 2025, purchasing more than $5,000 of fresh produce directly from local farmers and delivering to area food pantries. Read more here
We also accept and match SNAP payments used at our markets. For every $5 of SNAP money spent, we match give an extra $2, stretching how far a dollar can go to buy local food for families in need.
Adding three new directors to our board
Our all volunteer board of directors make the magic happen! This year, our board grew by three as Lisa Braud, Steve Dadio, and Heather Guidice joined as directors. You can read about the whole team here.Â
