Bucks County Foodshed Alliance is thrilled to facilitate the connections between volunteers and farmers! Back in June, a high school student named Mia reached out to BCFA looking for summer volunteer work. We matched her with Snipes Farm and Education Center in Morrisville.

Snipes Farm and Education Center was thrilled to have the delightful presence of Mia during our farming season in 2023.  Mia generously volunteered over two months, several days a week.  After she fulfilled her high school volunteer hour requirement of 50 hours, she stayed on to volunteer, happily washing and packing eggs fresh from the chicken yard and veggies just harvested by the farmers  Food Delivery Coordinator, Denise Smith, was thrilled that “with energy and enthusiasm, Mia jumped right in wherever she was needed!”  Mia hopes to help out at the farm on weekends in October when the farm is open for Fall fun.  We will be excited to have her back!

Looking to volunteer? Reach out to us at info@bucksfoodshed.org and we can help find you a local farm or other opportunity to make a big difference in the foodshed!

Volunteer Mia helps with the produce in Snipe’s farmers market.
