Fall is For Planting!

By Homegrown National Park

When it comes to planting natives, fall is the unsung hero. Your plants settle in with less stress, and you’ll see the benefits next spring.

Why Plant in the Fall?

Stronger roots — Warm soil and cooler days let roots grow while reducing plant stress.

Less watering — With less heat stress, your new plants need less extra care.

Earlier blooms — Natives planted now are ready to flower for pollinators next spring.

Fewer weeds & pests — Fall conditions give your plants a head start over competition.

Find a local native plant nursery near you and get planting!

Make sure to get your plants in the ground before the first frost (which is usually around mid to late-October in Bucks County). Some plants, like spring ephemerals, need to be planted in the spring time.
