Help us Support our Small Farmers

Dec 18, 2019 | Agriculture, Buying Local, Support for Local Farmers | 0 comments

Dear Supporter,

This year was a banner year for Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA). With your help, we were able to make our Small Farm Grant program a reality, as well as continue to fund education, connection, and collaboration about our local food system. This annual appeal is again focused primarily on giving back to our small farmers through that program. A summary of the Grant Program as well as information on three grants awarded, is outlined here. Our goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of 2019 so that we can do more to support Bucks County farmers.

With our grant program and your help, BCFA can help our local growers to become and remain sustainable, enabling them to continue to actively participate in the regeneration of our soils and to produce crops for future generations. Although Bucks County has been losing farmland and farms for decades, with our community’s support new farms have begun to sprout up. BCFA wants to partner with our local farmers to help preserve remaining land, help them keep farming and nurture new farmers. Together we make a big impact toward this goal.

YOU can help sustain and grow our local farms! The generosity of our community will determine how many grants we can give to meet the needs of our local farmers.

Following on the heels of an incredibly challenging 2018 farm season, 2019 was a recovery year for many of our Bucks County farmers. These farmers provide our community with direct access to fresh, safe, and nutrient dense food. BCFA will continue to work hard, with your support, to meet our mission of educating, connecting and collaborating to foster a sustainable local food system. Our Wrightstown and Doylestown Farmers Markets continue to provide a direct connection for customers to many of our area farmers. Our farm tours, programs and newsletter continue to educate our community. Our collaborative efforts with other organizations continue to foster interest in our local food system and now, collaborate with you to provide critical funds to our local small farmers.

Help us lend a helping hand to the people who put food on our table now so they can continue to do so in the future.

Get involved at here. Make your tax-deductible donation by clicking here or send a check to P.O. Box 401, Doylestown, PA 18901. Please let us know if you would like your donation recognized on our website and Facebook page and made known to grant recipients.

Sincerely,

Shari K. Rossmann
