Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA) began offering Small Farm Grants to farmers in the Bucks County region in 2019. The grant aims to provide funds to local farmers to make capital and other improvements supporting the farms’ long term health. It prioritizes farms that employ sustainable agricultural practices. So far in 2024, BCFA has awarded five separate grants to local farmers so far in 2024, totaling nearly $10,000. One of the grants was awarded to Rolling Hills Farm.
Rolling Hills Farms is a small bio-diverse farm which grows vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers and mushrooms using sustainable practices in Lambertville NJ, they are a vendor at the Wrightstown Farmers Market. BCFA awarded them the small farm grant to aid with the purchase of new tents for their farmers’ markets. They write:
Acquiring these tents has given us the ability to do farmers markets in even the worst of weather. With markets being rain or shine, and attending over 100 markets a year, the constant wear and tear combined with wind and storms that have only been worsening over the years having strong tents is crucial to the success of our business. After all our tents broke in a bad storm last year, this grant has allowed us to purchase tents that will last years longer than anything we could afford to purchase.

The new market tents!
