The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA) has been supporting local agriculture through its Small Farm Grant Program since 2019. These grants help farmers make capital and operational improvements that strengthen the long-term viability of their farms, with priority given to those using sustainable farming practices.
BCFA is excited to announce that Macungie Mountain Herb Farm, located in Macungie, PA, has been selected as a recent grant recipient!
About the Farm
Macungie Mountain Farm is both a 6-acre farm at the top of Macungie Mountain and a mobile food truck, primarily selling fresh squeezed lemonade with herbal and fruit flavors (like blueberry lavender or strawberry mint), prepared teas by the cup, 14 varieties of herbal tea, and raw honey. They grow the herbs, flowers and some of the fruit for the flavors and dried herbal teas. They are a long-time vendor at our Wrightstown Farmers Market. Â
About the Grant Award
Macungie Mountain Herb Farm will use their Small Farm Grant funds towards the purchase and installation of a new herb-drying shed. As demand for the farm’s herbal teas continues to grow, additional space is needed to efficiently dry, process, and package herbs for sale.
This investment will help the farm increase production capacity while maintaining the quality of its handcrafted herbal products.
