Stepping Up to Fight Food Insecurity

Dec 5, 2025 | BCFA News, Uncategorized | 0 comments

The past few weeks have been full of uncertainty as SNAP benefits were used as political leverage. In the face of this crisis, YOU stepped up to help fill in the gaps for community members in need. A record number of donations came through to BCFA for our food insecurity programs. Thanks to your donations, we have been able to:

Extend our Feed a Family, Support a Family Farm Program

Through this initiative, we purchase fresh vegetables and meats directly from our local farmers at our markets and donate them to area food pantries, supporting farmers while helping neighbors in need. Typically, this program runs from June through September, but with rising community needs and the donations we received, we were able to extend this program through November.

Offer “Market Bucks” to more customers at our Farmers Markets

Thanks to generous donors, we are able to provide “Market Bucks” to SNAP recipients and those in need of food assistance to spend as they wish at the markets.

SNAP Matching

Now that SNAP funding has resumed, we will continue offering SNAP matching. For every $5 in SNAP spent, we will match $2.

Thank you so much for supporting our vital programs that directly give neighbors in need access to fresh, local produce!
