WRIGHTSTOWN FARMERS MARKET KICKS OFF OPENING DAY MAY 6TH

Market location: Outside at Middletown Grange Fairgrounds (576 Penns Park Road, Newtown, PA)

The 2023 Wrightstown Farmers Market Main Season opens May 6th and runs Saturdays through November 18th, 9AM – 12PM Rain or Shine (Note: no market August 19th due to the Middletown Grange Fair).

Opening day activities will include a free veggie plant giveaway, monster bubbles for the kids, folk music from the Goose Creek Pioneers, ready-to-eat food and drinks from Bonjour Creperie Food Truck, Macungie Mountain Herb Farm and Burek by Zeni.

The Market features products grown by local farms and hosts 35-40 vendors each Saturday. On opening day you will find asparagus, broccoli rabe, assorted kale varieties, radishes, lots of salad greens, pasture-raised beef, pork, chicken and eggs, fresh hearth baked breads, custards and other sweets, dairy products, raw local honey, mushrooms, locally roasted coffee, craft made beverages, fresh soups, pickles, prepared foods to go, freshly made lemonade, handmade pottery, soaps and lotions, dog treats, nut butters, olive oil, gorgeous flower bouquets, and so much more.

The Market is happy to welcome back most of last year’s vendors including produce growers Blooming Glen Farm, Milk House Farm, Rolling Hills Farm, Solly Farm (in June) and Baptist Church Farm (late July).

New vendors to welcome include Hollow House Farms, Red Cat Farm (grains), Manoff Cidery, Lambertville Bakehouse, Aristeaus Craft Brewery, Mezze Hummus Haven and pop-up vendors Pie Bird Farm and Coastal Fig Co.

There are many exciting events and activities this coming season, including the return of the “What’s in Season” monthly cooking demos highlighting products from local growers and producers. Also in store are several chef demonstrations throughout the season, such as celebrity Chef Christina Pirello on August 6th and a pasta demo on July 22nd with local chefs Nicolas and Stephen of Servis Events, which provides an in-home dining experience focused on local seasonal ingredients.

The Market has many fun and crafty days planned for the kids this season.  Saturday activities will be run by the Penn State Master Gardeners, the Village Library of Wrightstown as well as by local high school students earning their community service hours.

According to Market Manager Cheryl Gilmore, “We are looking forward to bringing back many of our much-loved events such as partnering with the PA Dairy Promotion to host a free Giant Ice Cream Sundae Day in July, our Tomato Tasting/Salsa Contest Day in August, an interactive Monarch Butterfly Tent in early September, the annual Pie Tasting Contest in early October and our Howlin’ Halloween Day on October 28th.

“Also, we will continue to accept SNAP EBT benefits (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) this season as a great way to help those eligible in our community to increase access to local food. Thanks to the generosity of our parent organization, the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, we will be offering a $2 match for every $5 spent,” says Gilmore.
